A drone formation appeared on CCTV and presented a tribute to the May 4th Youth Day with Kris Wu

On May 4, 2018, at the "Flowers of May" National Art Festival for College and High School Students, the drone lantern formation we customized for CCTV and the popular idol Kris Wu performed "The Distance of Time" affectionately. The scene was warm, beautiful and moving.

In 2018 CCTV's New Year's Day special program, a formation of drones transformed into shining hearts and dazzling diamond rings to support a wedding of 100 people; in 2018 CCTV's Spring Festival Gala in the Year of the Dog, 3D dolphins and pyrotechnic seagulls amazed the audience; and this time, we will take a different approach to CCTV's May Fourth Special Program, and the fancy formations will refresh your understanding of drones.

Beautiful and elegant "dance"

How can a drone be transformed into a delicate and unique lantern? How can a warm and beautiful atmosphere be created?

Engineers have optimized the structure time and again, and handcrafted drone lanterns that meet the requirements of live performances.

For the appearance of the lampshade, the program team also invited students from Shandong Institute of Arts and Crafts to design it creatively. The elegant and unique appearance made the atmosphere more interesting.

Drone Lantern

In order to reduce the weight of the aircraft as much as possible while ensuring the support of the frame, and also considering the light transmittance and aesthetics of the lantern, we spent a lot of time on the selection of materials. After multiple tests on a variety of materials, we chose materials with excellent properties such as strong toughness, shock absorption, and light weight to make the frame and lantern skin, control the weight, leave more space for the drone to be modified, and ensure flight performance.

With high-brightness LED lights, the drone is a "light and shadow artist", dancing in the air to create a dream space; in the 2018 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the drone turned into a big red lantern, "jumping for joy" to add to the festive atmosphere; and in this art performance, the drone lantern became a messenger of warmth, conveying timeless feelings with graceful dancing.
